At Leicester Tutor Company we work closely with our learners to make sure they are prepared for their functional skills maths exam. One of the key components of an effective revision plan is past paper practise. This article has been made to help you access the level 2 past papers and then show you how to use them effectively.
The functional skills maths level 2 past papers can be accessed on a number of different websites. It is important to be aware that the exams before 2019 are missing certain content as new specifications have been introduced since then. All the different exam boards all offer their own individual past papers but all of them use the same government curriculum meaning there is little difference between them. The only real difference is the exam structure, they may have a different number of sections for the calculator and non-calculator sections for instance and slightly different timings. However, they are all still useful to use for revision materials.
Students should only go onto past paper practice once they feel confident with the subject matter otherwise it can negatively impact confidence. Once you have covered each topic area,we advise you to do your first functional skills maths level 2 past paper. It is best to complete the mock in timed conditions and see how you get on as timing is an important factor. After completion you can use the mark schemes to help mark the paper or ask your tutor to do this for you. This should enable you to identify your weaker topics to focus on. It is important that you don’t worry too much about the pass mark to begin with and focus more on the past papers as a way to help your revision. Once you have completed a number of mocks you should start to see your mark improve as you approach your exam date.
