Here at the Leicester Tutor Company, we understand that the GCSE results day for this year will be disappointing, or even devastating for some. In this case, some will be considering resitting to get a better grade, but may not know what option will be best. Today we will be providing information on 2 different methods of resitting. Allowing you to make an informed choice regarding which method you will go with.
The first may seem like the most obvious, but for many, the GCSE resits will be the best option. Especially for those who are aiming to get higher than a grade of 4 (the passing grade). For this method, you will be resitting the entire GCSE exam. You will be required to do this at a designated exam center, at set times during the year. So the GCSE resits don’t offer much in terms of flexibility. It will also not be suitable for those who are in a rush, due to the results taking around 2 months to be returned. If you believe this is the best option for you, below we have included links in order to let you book your exam.
The second is the Functional Skills Level 2 qualification. Unlike the GCSE retakes, this qualification will be the equivalent of a grade of 4 in GCSE Maths or English. Excellent for those who only need a passing grade. Due to this option adhering to the exam board’s standards, the qualifications are accepted by all universities, colleges, as well as job and education providers in the UK. The FS has the added benefit of allowing you the flexibility to sit the exam anywhere, including from your own home.
The exam can also be booked and taken anytime throughout the year. Some even end up booking, sitting, and receiving their results in under 3 weeks due to the 2-week results time. An added benefit of the qualification only being worth level 4 is that there is a reduced amount of content that will be covered in the exam. So there will be less to revise for, making the exam generally easier than the GCSE resits.
