As part of the MME group, Leicester Tutor Company has been selected as a DfE-Approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme, which is exclusively available to schools. Parents cannot enrol their children for this programme directly, but must do so through their subject teachers. MME offers NTP tutoring in maths, English, and science, specifically targeting GCSE-aged students, with potential expansion to other age groups in the future. If you are a parent interested in your child receiving additional support, contact your school directly and inquire about MME as a provider.

Parents, students, and teachers often have questions regarding the National Tutoring Programme.

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The government has established the NTP, a program aimed at enhancing learning outcomes in schools by providing financial assistance for tuition. While the NTP was first launched to aid students in catching up after the pandemic, it has since been prolonged owing to its success.

How does the NTP funding work?

Every student who is eligible for Pupil Premium generates an allocation of £162 per school that can be utilised towards any student’s NTP program. This funding is disbursed 3 times a year – in September, December, and April. Schools are permitted to request reimbursement for up to 60% of the tuition fees, capped at a limit of £18 per hour per student.

Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?

There are various options available, from in-person 1-2-1 tuition to online group lessons. Usually, 1-2-1 tuition is significantly more expensive than group sessions.

How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?
