Here at Leicester Tutor Company, we ensure all of our students get the best help and support they need with all of their core subject needs. We create a weekly article that highlights the best revision resources available for our learners. This week GCSE maths questions take the spotlight. Making sure learners have the best resources is key to their success and will give them the best success with their exams. Normally the main revision tool that learners look to is past exam papers. These papers are a great way to test knowledge and understand what level learners are working at.This is a very limited resource however and it shouldn’t be attempted until a good foundation of knowledge of the course has been built. A better way to revise is by firstly giving test questions a go like the ones that MME offer which cover all the exam boards.
These practise questions offer a simple but effective way to build up learners’ confidence and test prior knowledge before attempting the past exam papers. From our experience, we have found it most effective when learners are motivated to correct their own mistakes and revisit their own areas of weakness to fill any gaps in their knowledge. This will ultimately give them a better chance at succeeding in their exams. Once students have then tested each topic area with GCSE maths questions and feel confident they should then move onto the past exam papers to give them an insight into what the exam will be like on the day The past exams should be marked with the relevant mark scheme after completion and then look into which areas still need more attention. This method will soon show an impressive increase in the learners average grade which shows how effective it is when utilised correctly.
If you have any questions regarding the spoken about resources please feel free to contact Leicester Tutor Company and we will be happy to help.
